Sacred Breadth is a garden design and build company dedicated to creating sacred, restorative landscapes that support healing, contemplation, and a deeper connection to the natural world.
Founded by Lori Young, the work brings together biodynamic land practices, ecological awareness, and sacred design principles to shape environments that are both functional and deeply harmonious. Each landscape is approached as a living system—guided by the condition of the soil, the movement of water, the presence of plants, and the natural patterns already existing within the land.
Through this process, Sacred Breadth creates gardens, contemplative spaces, and healing environments that restore balance while supporting the long-term health of the ecosystem. The work is grounded in the understanding that when the land is cared for with intention, it naturally supports the well-being of all who experience it.
Over time, this practice has expanded to include a growing focus on regenerative land-based work. This evolution is currently being explored through an ongoing project in Clyde, New York, where a small riverfront property is being developed as a living demonstration of soil restoration, biodiversity, and ecological design in response to real environmental conditions, with a long- term vision of supporting education, community learning, and land stewardship.
Sacred Breadth continues to serve both as a landscape design studio and as an evolving body of work—supporting clients in creating meaningful, lasting spaces while deepening a broader commitment to the restoration of land and the relationship between people and place.

In this space, where mature trees were lost due to extreme wind events, the land is being thoughtfully renewed rather than left in decline. A portion has been intentionally reshaped into a medicine wheel and vegetable garden, transforming loss into a place of growth, learning, and care. Through soil rebuilding, native replanting, and mindful design, the site becomes a living example of resilience—where regeneration is not only ecological, but also deeply symbolic and restorative.

These plants require fewer external inputs, strengthen pollinator habitats, and help stabilize soil and water systems. Beyond their ecological role, native plantings also carry a deep sense of place, supporting a living connection between people and the land while restoring the natural rhythms that sustain the environment.

In raised beds, it focuses on building rich, biologically active soil through composting, natural amendments, and careful attention to soil structure and vitality. Planting is guided by seasonal and lunar rhythms, encouraging healthier growth, stronger resilience, and deeper connection between plants, soil, and environment. The goal is not just productivity, but the cultivation of a balanced, self-sustaining ecosystem that supports long-term land health.

At Sacred Breadth, our work is guided by a commitment to thoughtful, site-responsive landscape design. We focus on creating outdoor spaces that reflect and enhance the natural character of the land while responding to the specific needs and conditions of each site.

With over 20 years of experience, we bring depth of knowledge and practical expertise to every project. Our work integrates contemporary techniques and appropriate materials to translate each vision into a functional and thoughtfully designed landscape.

We offer a range of landscape design services, including garden design, site planning, and integrated outdoor environments. Each project is approached as a cohesive system, whether the goal is a planted sanctuary, a functional outdoor space, or a layered landscape that supports both use and ecology.
